Martin O'Neill has missed Celtic's final training session before Kilmarnock following his stay in hospital earlier this week.
Health scare and recovery
The Parkhead side revealed on Wednesday that the 74-year-old had undergone a "small procedure" and was expected to be discharged within 48 hours.
As he continues his recovery, he will miss the Premiership clash with Kilmarnock, with Shaun Maloney leading first-team training alongside Mark Fotheringham and Stephen McManus.
Maloney steps up
Sky Sports note that Maloney will also take on pre-match media duties including the pre-match press conference this afternoon.
It remains to be seen if the veteran boss returns to the dugout for the visit to Rugby Park on Sunday.
Jota's return
During the Maloney-led session, Jota joined the first-team squad as he ramped up his injury return.
He has been sidelined since suffering a nightmare cruciate tear at Tannadice on April 2025 and the winger has been hit by several blows that derailed hopes of returning towards the end of last campaign.
But the 27-year-old now appears to be closing in on a top team return.
