Olise suspended for Bayern vs Arsenal after red card

Michael Olise will not be available for Bayern Munich's Champions League match against Arsenal on Wednesday, as he must serve a one-game suspension following his sending-off in the club's previous European outing.

The French winger was shown a red card in Bayern's last Champions League fixture, a development widely seen as a boost for the Gunners ahead of their visit to the Allianz Arena. The suspension, triggered by two yellow cards, applies to one European match, which is the encounter with the north London side.

Training appearance causes confusion

Confusion arose when Olise was seen training with his team-mates before the fixture, leading some to believe the former Crystal Palace player might feature. However, that is not the case, and the ban stands for this week's game.

With Olise unavailable, Aaron Danks, Vincent Kompany's assistant manager, faces a decision on who will replace the forward on the right flank. Kompany will not be on the touchline to face Mikel Arteta's side after picking up a viral infection, leaving Danks, who worked under the ex-Manchester City defender at Anderlecht, to take charge.

Replacement options considered

Lennart Karl is one option to come into Bayern's front four, with summer signing Ismael Saibari operating in the No.10 position during the 6-1 win over RB Leipzig at the weekend. Karl, 18, started in the 3-3 draw at Viking, but he could be selected centrally with Saibari shifting wide right, and Luis Diaz completing the attacking midfield trident behind Harry Kane.

Olise's absence will be keenly felt by the German champions, as the French international has scored eight goals in nine appearances in all competitions so far, following on from his 39 strikes across his first two seasons in Germany.
