Darwin Nunez could be set for an unexpected reunion with former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor, as the Turkish club eyes the striker after securing Salah's signature.
Salah's Move to Turkey
Salah announced in March that the 2025-26 campaign would be his last at Liverpool, after agreeing to cancel the final year of his contract. Speculation linked him with Besiktas, but he has now signed a lucrative two-year deal with Trabzonspor, becoming their marquee summer signing and being unveiled to fans on Thursday.
Nunez on Trabzonspor's Radar
With Salah's €17 million (£14.5m) per season deal completed, Trabzonspor are reportedly keen to add Nunez. The i Paper reports that the Uruguay international is a target, having played alongside Salah at Anfield for three years before being sold to Al-Hilal.
Nunez could move this summer, with Tottenham also interested. He joined Liverpool for a club-record £85m including add-ons but is now valued at around £17m after a difficult two years.
Nunez's Decline
Nunez scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool but fell out of favour in the 2024-25 season, starting just eight league games. Since moving to Saudi Arabia, he has struggled for consistency, scoring six goals in 16 appearances as Al-Hilal were pipped to the title by Al-Nassr.
