Newsboy's Monday Racing Tips: Dandy Dinmont Tipped for Newcastle Nap
Newsboy's Monday Racing Tips: Newcastle Nap Revealed

Racing enthusiasts have a packed schedule to look forward to this Monday, with four meetings taking place across the country. Newsboy, the chief racing correspondent, has analysed the cards and revealed his top tips, including a strong fancy for the all-weather action at Newcastle.

Newcastle Nap: Dandy Dinmont Ready to Strike

The evening fixture at Newcastle features an eight-race Flat card on the all-weather track, and all eyes will be on the 7.10pm race. Newsboy has selected DANDY DINMONT as his best bet of the day, or 'Nap', for the Midnite Ain't Your Grandad's Bookie Handicap.

Trained by Nigel Tinkler, the six-year-old gelding brings a superb level of consistency to the table. He has finished in the top four in each of his last five outings, proving his reliability. His most recent victory came at Thirsk in August, where he secured a half-length win over Uncle Sam.

Last time out, Dandy Dinmont put in a solid performance on this very course, finishing a close third behind Winter Crown over six furlongs. The minimum trip today is expected to suit him perfectly. A significant advantage comes from jockey Alex Jary, whose claim will take 3lb off the horse's back, making his task slightly easier.

Plumpton Next Best: Final Straw Aims to Complete the Double

Over the jumps at Plumpton, Newsboy's attention turns to the BetGoodwin Novices' Limited Handicap Hurdle at 2.50pm. Here, FINAL STRAW is the selection as the 'Next Best' bet of the day and the second leg of a promising Daily Double.

The five-year-old, trained by Nicky Henderson, showed marked improvement on his handicap debut at Kempton earlier this month. Stepped up in distance and fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, he put in an impressive performance. After being prominent throughout, he made a minor error at the sixth flight but jumped well thereafter, taking the lead two hurdles from home.

Final Straw then readily drew clear of his rivals, winning by two lengths from Hurst Hill, and was eased down near the finish. Crucially, he escapes a penalty for that win as it was a conditionals' race. Amateur rider Daniel Williams will take a valuable 7lb off his weight, further enhancing his chances of success.
