Trained by Iain Jardine and ridden by Greg Fairley, Classy Clarets has a strong affinity for Wolverhampton, having recorded both his career wins at the track. After a slow start for his new yard, the five-year-old showed significant improvement last time out, finishing second by one length in a handicap over course and distance. A repeat of that effort should suffice in this classified stakes.
Earlier on the card, Francesi is the next best selection for Newsboy in the 6.00 handicap. Tony Carroll's seven-year-old has been in fine form, hitting the frame in his last 13 starts and winning at Newcastle last month. Despite a 6lb rise in the weights, he is expected to run well once more.
Newsboy also suggests a double combining Classy Clarets and Francesi, highlighting both as strong chances on the evening's card.
