Newcastle United host Aston Villa at St James' Park tonight, looking to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to Coventry City. For the second time this season, Matthias Jaissle's side walk out at home needing a big response to an away-day setback, just as they did after a 4-1 loss to Leeds United.
Team news and injury updates
Newcastle roared into a two-goal lead against Hull City a month ago, holding on for a 2-1 win, and know they must come out of the traps quickly against a Villa side who have struggled for Premier League points so far.
Jaissle is still without Tino Livramento, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey, while Joelinton, Dan Burn, Will Osula and Amar Dedic are fit but perhaps not ready to start.
Live coverage and match prediction
Live updates from St James' will follow throughout the evening, with team news, match analysis, ratings and reaction.
Match prediction polls currently show more fans going for a Villa win, though Newcastle have been here before, bouncing back from a heavy defeat to Leeds by beating Hull City 2-1, with Villa expected to be a tougher test.
