Newcastle United have been linked with a summer transfer swoop for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, but the Bundesliga club's sporting director has warned the Magpies off with a hefty asking price.

Sky Sports reports that Newcastle are preparing an offer for the German international, yet Dortmund's new sporting director Ole Book has made it clear that only offers in excess of £85.7m would be considered.
Book told Sky Sports: "I would consider that extremely unlikely. Of course, astronomical sums are always theoretically possible, but I think I can pretty much rule that out with Felix Nmecha this summer."
ChronicleLive has dismissed the move as an "absolute non-starter", noting that Newcastle are unlikely to spend more on a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes than the fee they received from Arsenal for the Brazilian.
Salinas on the radar
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims Newcastle and Aston Villa are monitoring Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas. The 19-year-old, who can play at centre-back or left-back, has a reported £13.7m release clause and has attracted interest from Barcelona and Manchester United.
Barcelona's £5m bid for Salinas was rejected earlier this summer. It remains unclear whether the Magpies or Villa will make a move this month or view him as a future prospect.
