Kosta Nedeljkovic has declared that Rangers should be targeting victory in the Conference League this season. The Serbian right-back made his debut for Derek McInnes’ side in Thursday night’s 1-0 play-off first-leg win over FK Jablonec at Ibrox.
Debut and loan move
Nedeljkovic, 20, joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, with the Ibrox club holding a conditional obligation to buy him at the end of the campaign. He made his European bow for the club in the match against the Czech side.
Rangers were eliminated from the Europa League by Jagiellonia Bialystok but can reach the Conference League group stage if they see off Jablonec in the second leg.
Ambition for silverware
Nedeljkovic expects Rangers to progress and is convinced they can go all the way in the competition. He said: “This tournament is very important. Of course, it’s not the Champions League and it’s not the Europa League.”
“But if you can’t play in them, of course you take the Conference League. We have to be a dominant club in it and we will fight for this title, of course. Every player wants to play in finals and for titles.”
“I was at Villa for the Super Cup Final (he was on the bench v PSG). Europe is so important for players and for the clubs. So in the second-leg next week, we have to win and play in the Conference League.”
