Morocco reached the Africa Cup of Nations final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Nigeria in Rabat, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saving two spot kicks to seal a 4-2 win. The semi-final had finished goalless after 120 minutes at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Bounou denied Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi, while Nigeria's Stanley Nwabali saved from Hamza Igamane, but it was not enough. Youssef En Nesyri converted Morocco's fifth penalty to send the hosts through to their first final since 2004.
Morocco, chasing their first continental title in 50 years, will face Senegal in Sunday's final. Nigeria, who withdrew striker Victor Osimhen just before the shootout, will play Egypt in Saturday's third-place playoff.
The match produced few clear-cut chances. Nigeria, who arrived with the tournament's best scoring record, offered little in attack, while Morocco were restricted mostly to long-range efforts despite Ismael Saibari forcing a save and Nayef Aguerd hitting the post.
