Morgan Rogers described Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Manchester United as a "massive" result after his stunning solo goal set the Blues on their way.
The win came after consecutive defeats to Tottenham and Liverpool, and Chelsea responded with a composed second-half performance at home.
Rogers' wondergoal breaks the deadlock
Rogers collected the ball in midfield, danced through several tackles, and chipped a cheeky finish past the onrushing Senne Lammens to open the scoring in the second half.
Asked what was going through his head during the run, Rogers said: "Just to try to commit the defenders. All of a sudden, I was in on goal and had to stay composed. Luckily it went in."
A 'massive' result for the Blues
Rogers stressed the importance of the result for manager Xabi Alonso and the team, saying: "A difficult week with a poor result last weekend. We knew we had to come out here strong. In the second half, we stamped our authority and that was really good. We deserved the win."
He was back in his natural position on Saturday after struggling as a centre-forward against Tottenham last week, and added that he was happy to be back alongside Cole Palmer in the No10 role.
Interchanging to occupy defenders
Rogers explained his instructions on the day: "To try to occupy defenders in whatever space it may be. We were interchanging and doing what was necessary to occupy defenders and drag them out."
He also highlighted the competitive training environment, saying: "We always push each other in training every day. If we're both doing well and the team is doing well, that's the most important."
