Mohamed Salah Confirms Liverpool Exit at Season's End

Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, ending one of the greatest careers in the club's history. The Egypt international will depart on a free transfer this summer, despite having 12 months remaining on his contract, in an agreement with the club.

Salah's current deal is worth approximately £500,000 a week including performance-related bonuses. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, stated: 'We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows.' The forward has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, but widespread interest is expected from clubs across the globe.

In a social media video, Salah said: 'Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Liverpool is not just a football club. It's a passion. It's a history. It's a spirit I can't explain in words to anyone not part of this club.' He added: 'Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.'

Salah, who turns 34 in June, has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, placing him third on the club's all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. He joined from Roma for £34m in 2017 and has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and two League Cups. Individually, he has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and the PFA Player of the Year award three times.

This season has been the most challenging of his nine years at Anfield, with a public dispute with head coach Arne Slot in December leading to a brief omission from the squad. However, he was quickly reintegrated and recently scored his 50th Champions League goal, becoming the first African player to reach that milestone. Liverpool, who have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and FA Cup, are currently without Salah due to a muscle injury, but he has not been ruled out of their trip to Manchester City on 4 April.
