Milos Kerkez has opened up on the intensity of his first Liverpool training session, describing the 'boom boom boom' sound of passes at the highest level. The £40million summer signing from Bournemouth says the quality and lack of mistakes at the AXA Training Centre immediately caught his eye.
The Hungary international, 21, is competing with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas for the left-back spot. He insists he feels no pressure, drawing on his Serbian upbringing: 'Pressure is when you don't have a meal the next morning, like some families. This what we do is no pressure.'
Kerkez revealed his brothers chose his squad number six, inspired by John Arne Riise. He also praised the club's mentality, saying: 'It's a special place – when I arrived, you can clearly see from everything, with players that you come to play with, pitches and people, how professional everything is.'
Sunday's Community Shield against Crystal Palace offers a final chance to impress before facing his former club Bournemouth in the Premier League opener. Kerkez is relishing the battle: 'It's Liverpool, it's always your fight for position. You have to train good – every training session and every game.'
