Derek McInnes has been told he will be gone before Christmas as Rangers fans lose patience after just two games without a win. The new boss saw his side beaten 1-0 by Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa League qualifier first leg, following a draw with Dundee United.
Fans call for change
Philip Borland said: "When I heard Derek McInnes was going to be next Rangers manager I said straight away he wasn't the right man for us, and after two games I was right to say that. He will be gone before Christmas. The team he is picking is not good enough."
James Thompson, Glasgow, said: "Utter embarrassment. We can't pass a ball, the defence is laughable and no threat up front. These players are a joke."
Adam Peters, Bathgate, has urged Rangers to add experience to their ailing backline: "Shocking is all you can say about that defence Rangers desperately need defenders Paddy McNair and Chris Smalling would be good shout for experience"
More criticism
Kenny Wilson, Moffat, stuck the boot in: "No doubt later on Rangers fans will be mocking Celtic fans over European results as always even though they go from one embarrassment to another themselves. Beaten by a team that looks like a WiFi password and it won’t be long before they want yet another manager. I’m sure the words 'really disappointed' will keep on coming."
Willie Mercer, Dumfries, said: "To win football matches, you must start with the best 11 available to you on the day. That certainly wasn't the case for Rangers in Poland, as clearly demonstrated by the uplift in performance in the second half. Of the team that started, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, and Tochi Chuckawani are at best average squad players, Dujon Sterling is not a centre half, Emmanuel Fernandez is sloppy and careless, as for Mohamed Diomande, it is a mystery how he gets a starting shirt. The jury is still out on Thelo Aasgaard who contributed absolutely nothing - and don't get me started on that big lazy lump up front, whose only contribution was to continually foul. Any credit or feelgood factor around McInnes will quickly evaporate if he continues to select players that it is clear are not up to the standard or for the level of commitment required of a Rangers player."
Hearts suffer heavy defeat
While Motherwell and Hibs picked up wins in the Conference League, it was another painful night for Hearts in Europe as they were smashed 6-1 by Benfica in Lisbon.
Neil Renton, Leith said: "Another European night, another embarrassment from Hearts. Portugal? More like Portogoals as Benfica ran rampant against the sorry Jambos. They should do the decent thing and ask UEFA if they can just leave the competition right now before they cause Scotland more shame."
Gary Stevenson said: "As predicted, more pain and embarrassment for Scottish clubs in Europe as those cash rich ties arrive to early for our clubs. While many will mock those results the aftermath is not good for the Scottish coefficient. Perhaps all our teams should play in the League Cup as it gives them a feel for competitive football prior to European participation."
Celtic debate over Hogh
At Celtic, the debate over record signing Kasper Hogh rages on after his lacklustre debut against Dundee.
Charles Maxwell said: "Benji Nygren got it tight from some quarters last season over his work-rate despite 20 goals and i have to say he busted a gut on Monday night. Kasper Hogh at best, looked like last seasons Benji, but without the goals. Apparently he's fantastic on plastic, but says he needs to get used to grass and do some shooting practice."
Celtic need to put this boy out on loan for the first half of the season, for the good of his career and Celtic's investment. The fans will put up with a lot. But not a lazy striker who doesn't score....you're not here to practice Mr Hogh. You're here to perform."
William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: "I agree with some of Celtic supporters about Hogh, but just remember that was his first game. In his first game, Henrik Larsson had stinker - but look what he became when he got his first goal. Give the boy a chance. Once he gets his first goal then watch him go."
Fan sparring
And there was some sparring between Hotline callers after some angry responses from Rangers fans to their early season struggles.
Alan Flett said: "For the first time Mr. McAdam has actually got something right. Celtic fans don't boo their players! The self proclaimed best fans in the world just don't bother to turn up. I reckon there are many Rangers fans, including myself, who've been to Parkhead more often than McAdam."
