Martin Tyler Denies Man Utd Bias, Reveals He Supports Woking

Veteran commentator Martin Tyler has dismissed claims of bias towards Manchester United, revealing his true allegiance lies with National League side Woking FC. The 80-year-old, who left Sky Sports in 2023 after 33 years, addressed the accusations on the podcast 'In The Mixer'.

Tyler recounted an incident involving former striker Rickie Lambert to illustrate how personal stories can be mistaken for bias. He recalled Lambert's first Premier League goal for Southampton in 2012, saying his excitement was for the player's journey from non-league, not favouritism.

He also cited contradictory criticism from a newspaper after the 2017 League Cup final, where he was accused of bias towards both Manchester United and Southampton. 'I'm a Woking fan. I've never been anything else but a Woking fan,' Tyler stated.

Addressing Manchester City fans' claims of bias during their 2012 title-clinching match against QPR, Tyler admitted he was 'too excited' for Jamie Mackie's goal but stressed that 'everybody's entitled to their opinion'.
