Manchester United are close to securing Champions League football, which would bolster their summer transfer plans. With Casemiro expected to leave, the club have been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni, who succeeded the Brazilian at the Bernabéu in 2022.
The departures of Casemiro and Jadon Sancho at the end of their contracts are thought to ease concerns over covering Tchouameni’s wages. Barcelona’s option on Marcus Rashford is not expected to affect United’s budget.
Real Madrid may need to sign a replacement before letting Tchouameni go. Rodri and Enzo Fernández have been mentioned as potential targets, with Rodri entering the final year of his Manchester City contract and Fernández possibly available should Chelsea miss out on the Champions League.
Elsewhere, Brazilian teenager Eduardo Conceição is not a target for Barcelona, despite speculation. United have reportedly made a bid of around £35m plus add-ons for the Palmeiras winger, while Newcastle have also lodged an offer and Manchester City have scouted him.
Conceição scored twice for Brazil at this year’s South American Under-17 Championship. He cannot move to Europe until he turns 18 in December next year.
