Amorim Eyes Ederson for AC Milan After Man Utd Deal Collapses

Ruben Amorim is poised to take advantage of Manchester United's failed move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with AC Milan now ready to swoop for the Brazilian. The 27-year-old had been expected to join the Premier League giants, but the deal fell through after he underwent a medical, leaving his future uncertain.

According to reports, Amorim wants to reshape the Milan midfield and is keen to change the club's recruitment strategy by pursuing proven Serie A talent. The Rossoneri have already made contact with Atalanta to explore a move for Ederson, who has been away at the World Cup with Brazil.

Milan have signalled their intent this summer by securing a club-record move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos for around £60 million. The Serie A side are also set to face Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Poland on 15 August, giving Amorim a chance to take on his former club.

Amorim, who was sacked by United in January after a 14-month tenure, has apologised for not addressing the fans at the time. Speaking after his first Milan press conference, he said: 'The only thing I can say is that I learn a lot and I did some mistakes. I didn't have the opportunity – and I am sorry for that – to say something to the Manchester United fans at the moment, but I am really proud to have been their coach for a year.'

He added: 'Now it is a different history. There are a lot of things I could do better in the last experience. But sometimes it is like that. You need to learn to reach a different level.'
