Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven has been invited to train with the England senior team ahead of Friday's friendly against Uruguay at Wembley. The 19-year-old, who joined United from Arsenal, had already been selected for the England Under-20 squad but will now step up to train with Thomas Tuchel's senior side to make up numbers during the first week of the international break.
Heaven has made 21 appearances for the Red Devils this season and has earned two caps for the England Under-20s. He is expected to rejoin the Under-20s for their upcoming matches against Spain and Croatia after his stint with the senior team.
Tuchel named a 35-man squad for the break, with many players joining later. The German coach explained that the split squad approach allows him to assess players ahead of the World Cup. Among those recalled are United teammates Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo, whom Tuchel praised for their role in United's recent form under Michael Carrick.
Heaven will train alongside familiar faces, including Maguire and Mainoo, as he gets a taste of senior international football.
