Michael Carrick praised the performances of Mason Mount and Patrick Dorgu after Manchester United ended their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory at Brighton. Goals from Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo, and Bruno Fernandes secured the win at the Amex Stadium.
Fernandes broke the Premier League single-season assist record with his 21st of the campaign, while youngsters Dorgu, Amad, and Kobbie Mainoo impressed. Carrick highlighted the value of experience for the younger players, noting the importance of learning to perform under pressure for Manchester United.
Dorgu, making his first start in four months after recovering from injury, scored and earned special praise from the manager. 'It was a massive setback for him when he got injured, but the way he's just got on with it is incredible,' Carrick said. 'To come back like he did today is great.'
Mount, making only his second start under Carrick, also drew acclaim for his midfield display. 'I was delighted for him. I thought he did ever so well,' added Carrick. Mainoo, meanwhile, 'just keeps improving all the time,' the manager noted.
