Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to score the only goal as Manchester United beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Monday. The summer signing swept in a first-time shot from Bryan Mbeumo in the 71st minute to seal an uninspiring Premier League clash.
The win lifted caretaker manager Michael Carrick's side into fourth place in the table, three points clear of Chelsea and Liverpool. United almost took an early lead when James Tarkowski cleared an Amad Diallo effort off the line.
United goalkeeper Senne Lammens had a quiet night but made late saves to deny teenager Harrison Armstrong and Michael Keane's long-range effort. Gary Neville has said United must pursue another manager despite Carrick's unbeaten start, which includes five wins and a draw in six games since replacing Ruben Amorim.
