Manchester United are prepared to let a group of young players leave the club this summer as part of a major squad overhaul. Manager Michael Carrick has given the green light for exits, with the club prioritising a streamlined squad and reduced wage bill.
United have already offloaded André Onana (loan to Trabzonspor), Rasmus Højlund (sold to Napoli for £43.2m), and released Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho. Tyler Fredricson has also left on loan to Lausanne Sports. However, more departures are needed to free up space.
Seven Players Told They Can Leave
According to BBC Sport, seven players have been informed they can leave: Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer, Dan Gore, Radek Vitek, Harry Amass, Jacob Devaney, and Chido Obi. The club is open to offers for all of them.
Wheatley, a 20-year-old England under-20 forward, has been on loan at Walsall, Northampton, and Bradford. He has attracted interest from Everton, but their proposal to place him in their under-21 squad is not appealing to him.
Individual Situations
Toby Collyer, a 22-year-old midfielder, was left out of the squad for the friendly against Atletico Madrid and has been told he is free to find a new club. He was the only signing of the Ralf Rangnick era and has made 13 appearances for United.
Dan Gore, 21, spent last season on loan with Rotherham and has only two senior appearances. With one year left on his contract, a permanent exit is likely.
Goalkeeper Radek Vitek, 22, impressed on loan at Bristol City last season and has attracted interest. He is available for transfer, with Karl Darlow signed on a free to be Senne Lammens' backup.
Harry Amass, 19, has returned to pre-season after loans at Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich. He has featured as Luke Shaw's backup but could leave as United target a new left-back, with Newcastle's Lewis Hall and Racing Santander's Jorge Salinas on the radar.
Jacob Devaney, a 19-year-old midfielder, may be loaned out again after a stint at St Mirren. Striker Chido Obi, 18, has not made an impact since joining from Arsenal in 2024.
