Manchester United have identified Atalanta midfielder Éderson as a potential replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave the club in the summer. The 26-year-old Brazilian is valued at between €40m and €50m (£35m-£45m), with United's director of football, Jason Wilcox, a known admirer of the player.
Éderson joined Atalanta in January 2022 from Salernitana and has since earned three caps for Brazil, making his debut in a friendly against Mexico in June 2024. His most recent international appearance came in a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in March 2025.
United are planning to sign two new midfielders in the upcoming transfer window. The club are also monitoring other targets, including Real Madrid's Aurélien Tchouaméni, who would cost around £70m, Brighton's Carlos Baleba, valued at approximately £50m, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, priced at least £60m, and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, for whom offers would need to start at £100m.
Current defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, a £51m signing, has rarely featured this season and could be sold or loaned out in the summer. Éderson's contract with Atalanta runs until June 2027.
United's next Premier League fixture is at home to Brentford on Monday night.
