Manchester United are set to confirm the permanent sale of goalkeeper Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough, according to reports.
It is understood that a breakthrough has been reached in talks, and the 22-year-old is due to travel to Teesside to finalise the move. Vitek has been Middlesbrough's leading goalkeeper target following a successful loan spell with Bristol City last season.
Vitek's desire for first-team football
Vitek gets his wish of becoming the first-choice goalkeeper, something he was unlikely to achieve at Manchester United, with Senne Lammens, Tom Heaton, and summer signing Karl Darlow ahead of him in the pecking order.
Earlier in the summer, Vitek said: "I feel great and ready to go again. Someday I hope to be a No1." He added: "My mind is the same, I want to play every week, that is the goal for next season."
Buy-back clause and other details
The Daily Mail reports that United have inserted a buy-back clause into the agreement, along with a number of other favourable clauses.
If the move is completed, Vitek will become the ninth player to leave Manchester United permanently this summer, following Rasmus Hojlund, Sonny Aljofree, Tyrell Malacia, James Bailey, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Malachi Sharpe, and Tyler Fredricson.
