Manchester United's future starting line-up could include academy star Shea Lacey and a defence rebuilt at a cost of £215m, according to a speculative projection by Express Sport.
The club, once dominant under Sir Alex Ferguson, have struggled to reclaim their former status. However, a combination of transfer investment and the development of young talents could see them challenge for Premier League titles again.
Goalkeeper and Defence Priorities
In goal, Senne Lammens, signed last summer at age 21, is seen as a long-term option. The defence is the main area needing overhaul, with current options like Diogo Dalot, Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui deemed insufficient, and Harry Maguire ageing.
Jarrad Branthwaite, linked with an £80m move from Everton, could partner Leny Yoro. Newcastle's Tino Livramento (£60m) and Lewis Hall (£75m) are also targeted to complete a £215m defensive rebuild.
Midfield Stability and Attack Potential
The midfield could remain largely unchanged, with Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans staying. Bruno Fernandes is expected to remain at the club, with Mateus Cunha potentially taking on a bigger role as he ages.
In attack, Shea Lacey is tipped for a starting spot, provided he gains senior experience. Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko are also projected to feature prominently.
