Manchester United Fans Delay Protest Against Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Takeover
Man Utd fans delay Ratcliffe protest

Manchester United supporters have postponed a planned protest against the club's new minority stakeholders, INEOS, led by billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The fan group known as The 1958 announced the delay, citing ongoing discussions with the club's hierarchy.

The protest, initially scheduled to take place before United's upcoming Premier League fixture, was intended to voice frustrations over the Glazer family's prolonged ownership and the perceived lack of progress under INEOS. However, the group has opted for a temporary pause to allow further dialogue.

Why the Protest Was Postponed

In a statement, The 1958 explained that the decision was made after receiving assurances from INEOS representatives about their commitment to engaging with fans. "We believe in giving them a fair chance to demonstrate their intentions," the group said.

Ratcliffe's INEOS secured a 25% stake in Manchester United earlier this year, with a promise to take control of football operations. While some supporters remain sceptical, others see this as a potential turning point for the club.

Fan Sentiment Remains Divided

Despite the postponement, tensions among the fanbase persist. Many long-time supporters continue to demand full accountability from the Glazers, while others cautiously welcome INEOS's involvement.

"We’re not calling off the protest indefinitely," a spokesperson for The 1958 clarified. "If we don’t see meaningful change, we will return stronger."

The club has yet to issue an official response, but sources suggest that INEOS is keen to avoid further unrest as they prepare for a busy summer transfer window.
