Michael Carrick is reportedly exploring options to strengthen Manchester United's squad after a quiet transfer period, but internal disagreements may hinder a third midfield signing.
Transfer Activity So Far
The United manager has already secured key midfield targets Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, while promising prospects Tynan Thompson and Cristian Orozco have been captured for the future. However, no additional first-team signings have been made in recent weeks, and with the new domestic season approaching, fans are eager to see if boardroom consensus can be reached.
Nmecha Bid Expected
Despite adding two midfielders, United have lost Casemiro and will be without injured Manuel Ugarte for most of the campaign. Carrick's squad may therefore pursue a third midfield addition, with Borussia Dortmund and Germany international Felix Nmecha on their radar. However, Newcastle United are reportedly preparing an offer for the 25-year-old after initial discussions, according to Sky Sports Germany.
United's interest in Nmecha is understood to have waned after Dortmund demanded €100 million (£85.8m) for his services.
Internal Disagreement
Internal disagreements at Old Trafford may be blocking a third midfield acquisition. Director of recruitment Christopher Vivell has pushed for AS Roma's Manu Kone, but sporting director Jason Wilcox remains sceptical about the France international.
Speaking on the United Stand, Jacobs suggested that both Wilcox and Carrick prefer a signing with proven Premier League experience, similar to Tielemans and Santos. United have been linked with Bournemouth's Alex Scott, though whether they can complete another midfield signing before the summer window closes remains uncertain, reports the Manchester Evening News.
