Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Club Brugge over a move for left-back Joaquin Seys, as the club continues to explore alternatives to long-term target Lewis Hall. The 21-year-old Belgian has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Aston Villa, according to The Sun.
Seys impressed in the Belgian Pro League and earned a surprise call-up to Belgium's World Cup 2026 squad, where he featured in the quarter-final loss to eventual winners Spain. Club Brugge are said to be demanding £30 million for the player, though that fee is not expected to be a major hurdle for United.
Left-back options thin
With Luke Shaw now 31 and in the final year of his contract, and Diogo Dalot the only natural left-back alternative after Patrick Dorgu was moved into a more effective wing role, United are keen to reinforce the position. The club has made several enquiries elsewhere, with Seys the latest name added to the shortlist.
Competitive interest from Premier League champions Arsenal, in particular, could pose a problem for United in securing Seys' signature.
Tielemans deal praised
Meanwhile, former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has hailed United's capture of Youri Tielemans as a "f***ing steal". The Belgium international joined the Red Devils for £35 million after United activated his release clause at Aston Villa, just one day after signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a £48 million move.
Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel said: "For me, it’s Youri Tielemans. Honestly, how the f*** did Manchester United get him for £35m? That’s a f***ing steal. I watched him before and during the World Cup and you can see that this is a player.
"Obviously, we all know how Tielemans plays, he can play as a six, an eight or a 10 and when you have a player that can play anywhere, it gives you the variety to change the way you want to play. Tielemans is that guy. He scores goals, he’s dangerous from set pieces, he’s brilliant on the ball and he rarely gives it away.
"The only thing people can say is that he’s not the quickest, but he reads the game so well. He is very intelligent with and without the ball. When I look at all the midfielders that have transferred to different clubs [this window], the best one is Tielemans."
