Manchester United have reportedly earmarked Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye as a potential signing, but they face competition from Liverpool for his signature. The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their attacking options amid uncertainty over Marcus Rashford's future and Joshua Zirkzee's potential departure.
Mbaye's Profile and Interest
Mbaye, who impressed for Senegal at the recent World Cup, is a versatile forward capable of playing on both sides of the attack. He is considered one of the brightest talents in European football and has told PSG he is open to moving on this summer.
Liverpool have also identified Mbaye as a target, keen to bolster their attack following Mohamed Salah's departure. They also want to sign his PSG teammate Bradley Barcola. Other clubs linked include Manchester City, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig, according to L'Equipe.
United's Summer Activity
United have already confirmed six signings this summer, including Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, with Karl Darlow adding goalkeeping depth. Youngsters Kit Margetson, Cristian Orozco, and Tynan Thompson have also arrived for development.
Mbaye has a contract with PSG until 2028, and the Ligue 1 champions are known as tough negotiators. United could offer more meaningful minutes, as they lack options on the left wing if Rashford leaves. Matheus Cunha has operated there but is better suited elsewhere, while Patrick Dorgu has deputised but isn't an out-and-out winger.
United begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign away to Hull City in just over two weeks, with their first home match against Ipswich Town.
