Manchester City were beaten 3-1 on penalties by Inter Milan after a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong.
Divin Mubama scored City's only goal in normal time. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved one spot-kick, but three of his team-mates failed to convert theirs.
Enzo Maresca selected almost his strongest available XI for his first game in charge, with Phil Foden captaining the side. Antoine Semenyo, playing on the wing, was the best player of the first half - he set up Mubama's goal and might have scored himself.
Second half and penalties
Five City players were introduced at half-time, including Nico Gonzalez, who overcame a knee injury scare, and Ryan McAidoo, who was a constant threat on the right wing.
Despite a bright second-half showing, City could not find a winner and the match was decided on penalties.
Manchester Evening News player ratings
Here are the ratings from the Manchester Evening News:
- Donnarumma: Produced several good saves despite receiving little protection from his defence. 7

- Khusanov: Smashed one pass straight out of play where Maresca was standing but improved in the second half. 7

- Reijnders: Combined nicely with Kovacic and had a decent early effort at goal. 6
- Foden: Struggled to influence play in the first half but looked brighter when moved higher up in the second. 6
