Manchester City face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon in the Premier League, with Matheus Nunes and Iliman Ndiaye potentially returning to the squad. Antoine Semenyo remains a long-term absentee.
Team news ahead of Brighton clash
Brighton arrive looking for revenge after losing 4-3 on penalties to City in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday night. Enzo Maresca made several changes in midweek, with five first-team players given a three-day break following the Aston Villa defeat.
Gianluigi Donnarumma was one of those rested, but he has been confirmed as the starting goalkeeper against Brighton. Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Elliot Anderson and Erling Haaland are all expected to return to the starting lineup after their breaks.
Nunes and Ndiaye injury updates
Matheus Nunes has been sidelined with a groin injury after missing the trip to Villa. Maresca suggested he could make the squad for the Brighton game on Wednesday, but he was absent. Speaking on Friday, Maresca said: "They are all available. Only Antoine Semenyo [out], the rest, they are all available." Nunes' potential return date is October 31.
Iliman Ndiaye suffered cramp after an assist against Villa and was replaced after clutching his leg. Maresca played down concerns, confirming it was just cramp. Ndiaye made the bench on Wednesday but did not come on. His potential return date is also October 31.
Semenyo out long-term
Antoine Semenyo is a long-term absentee with a leg injury. Maresca confirmed this week that Semenyo is in good spirits, but it is too early to determine when he might return. His potential return date is December.
