Manchester City travel to Nottingham Forest this evening hoping to carry the positive mood from Wednesday's victory over RB Leipzig into the game. It was a rollercoaster match for the Blues in Germany as they were twice pegged back by their hosts. City's leading goalscorer Erling Haaland sealed the win and pushed Enzo Maresca's men into the Champions League top eight.
With just one international break remaining this year, City are hoping they can enter it on a high. Maresca praised the number of high quality players he has at his disposal during Friday's press conference, and the injury list is not too bad at present.
City have only one long-term injury absentee in their squad. However, Maresca did give a word of caution on another of his star players. MEN Sport has rounded up the latest injury news below.
Nico O'Reilly's back problem
O'Reilly played the full 90 minutes in midweek but missed out on the England squad for the international break. When asked about his omission, Maresca revealed the problems O'Reilly is having with a lingering back issue.
"I mean, with Nico, it's quite easy. Since we started the season, you know, with his back, if you remember before Coventry game, some more problems," Maresca said. "Unfortunately, he is not 100%.
"In the last game, I really like him. I think he was playing a very good game. This is what we need from Nico, just keep him fit because we know how good he is, and no doubt that in the future he'll again be with the international team.
"Yeah, [a break] is what he needs. Also, you know, to use that break, to do the right things in terms of therapy and this kind of things, and be 100% after the international break."
Antoine Semenyo's long-term absence
Maresca confirmed last month that Semenyo is a long-term injury concern for the Blues. The forward is expected to be back before the busy Christmas period.
Potential return date: December
