Noni Madueke Urges Arsenal to Move On from Carabao Cup Final Defeat
Madueke: Arsenal Must Not Sulk After Carabao Cup Loss

Arsenal forward Noni Madueke has emphasised that his side cannot afford to dwell on their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, urging them to take the setback in their stride and refocus on their remaining ambitions this season. The Gunners lost 2-0 to their title rivals at Wembley last week, missing out on their first piece of silverware under Mikel Arteta, but still have hopes of securing a treble in other competitions.

Focus Shifts to International Duty and Club Push

Madueke, who is currently with the England squad ahead of a friendly against Uruguay at Wembley on Friday, stressed that his immediate attention is on national team duties. He acknowledged the difficulty of bouncing back from such a loss but insisted on maintaining a professional mindset.

"Listen, my focus now is on England for sure," Madueke stated. "Of course it's difficult, those type of games but you take it in your stride, you can't sulk, you have to carry on. We've got important games for England coming up, which I'm fully focused on to try and do my best and when we get back to club it'll be the final push to try and finish where we want to."

Arteta's Reaction and Team Morale

Following the final, manager Mikel Arteta described the defeat as leaving "a really bad taste," highlighting the emotional impact on the squad. However, Madueke's comments suggest a determination to channel that disappointment into motivation for the crucial run-in, with Arsenal still competing on multiple fronts.

Madueke's Personal Development and Playing Style

The 24-year-old also discussed his own aspirations to become a more prolific goalscorer, describing it as an ongoing process in his career. "It's an ongoing process, of course I want to get to the point in my career where I'm very prolific in front of goal, I'm not there yet, but I'm sure I will be in years to come," he explained.

Known for his exceptional dribbling ability, Madueke has carved out a niche as a rare modern footballer who excels in one-on-one situations, providing both Arsenal and England with a distinctive attacking weapon. He credited managers Thomas Tuchel and Mikel Arteta for encouraging him to play to his strengths.

"I think it's clear what my strengths are," he added. "I think Thomas and Mikel are both great at just telling me to express myself and telling me to use my qualities. That's what I do anyway. That's my focus. Anytime I go onto the pitch, I try and use my strengths to the best of my ability to help the team. I love beating players in the most efficient way possible. And creating and scoring."

England's Upcoming Fixtures and Squad Dynamics

With England manager Thomas Tuchel planning to use the Uruguay friendly to assess fringe players for the World Cup squad, senior stars are set to return for Monday's match against Japan. This context adds another layer to Madueke's need to compartmentalise club disappointments and international opportunities, as he aims to secure his place in the national team setup while helping Arsenal finish the season strongly.
