Love Island fans have already identified the winner of the new ITV2 series, with many backing contestant Jasmine as the frontrunner. The show returned this evening with a dramatic twist as host Maya Jama instructed the Islanders to pair up, asking them whether they would play it safe or step outside their comfort zones.
Viewers Pick Their Winner
As the first six couples formed, viewers took to social media to share their predictions. One fan wrote, 'Omg I love Jasmine, my winner already #loveisland,' while another added, 'Ladies and gentlemen my winner has arrived. Jasmineeeeeee #LoveIsland.' However, not everyone agreed, with some supporting Lola and Angelista instead.
Welfare Measures Highlighted
This year, the welfare of contestants has been a priority for Love Island producers, following a Panorama documentary titled 'The Dark Side of Married at First Sight' released in May. Executive producer Lewis Evans told The Mirror, 'We take welfare very seriously. Love Island is a fixed rig show. It is six weeks long and the Islanders are always being filmed. There are cameras everywhere and they are always monitored. We always make sure they're OK.' Ben Webster, ITV's director of programme publicity, added, 'Welfare is ever evolving. It's not for us to say if we do a good job, but it's gratifying to hear that Islanders have said good things about our welfare team.'
Former Islander Gabby Allen's Predictions
Former Islander Gabby Allen shared her thoughts on the new cast, saying, 'The new villa and hideaway looks unreal as do all of the cast. I think Aidan is going to be a cheeky chap and popular with the ladies. The stand out so far! I can see it already! Mica is unreal and seems very humble, which we love.' Backing Ope, she added, 'These two coming in I feel like is already spicing things up. BOTH of them have very good energy. You heard it here first, Ope is going to do well. Player of not. People are going to like him.'
Jasmine's Past Relationship
Jasmine previously dated former Arsenal player Hector Bellerin in 2021. She commented, 'I'm open to getting to know everyone. If I like you, I like you, so I'm not put off from dating footballers. That relationship was so long ago, I don't think about it anymore. It was a very healthy and lovely relationship and I suppose it did prepare me a little for high profile things but my main preparation has come from my mum and my sister and my friends. I have a huge support network.'
