Liverpool are considering a double swoop for Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, which could cost a combined £188m, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Interest in PSG pair
The Reds are understood to be weighing up moves for both players, with the French club valuing Mbaye at approximately £43m. The Senegal international joined PSG's academy in 2018 from Versailles and received a first-team call-up in 2024 following standout performances in the youth setup.
Mbaye has registered eight goals and 13 assists across 36 appearances for PSG, predominantly featuring on the right flank but also capable of playing on the left. Meanwhile, Liverpool have maintained a longstanding interest in French international Barcola, with discussions anticipated to commence shortly.
Transfer fee demands
The reigning European champions are reportedly demanding around £145m for the 23-year-old winger, though reports indicate the Reds hope to pay significantly less. Should Liverpool complete a remarkable double signing, they could be forced to spend an eye-watering £188m to secure both players from Paris.
Carragher's warning
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has voiced his worries over the club's transfer activity this summer, writing off their Premier League title chances this season. "Where we are right now, and there is still a month to go transfer-wise, I can only see Arsenal or Man City (winning the league)," Carragher said on The Football Ramble.
"I think Liverpool need two defenders and a top right winger to be in the 'chat' or in the chase. They haven't replaced Mo Salah," he added. "They are supposed to be going for Barcola, and I'm sitting there scratching my head thinking the manager and the people sorting the transfers out know a lot more than I do about what's going on behind the scenes, but we have about four players who can play left wing, and we are going for Barcola."
"They haven't got one player who plays on the right wing in the squad. I'm a little bit worried but what I would say about Liverpool and people above, with the people above, I do trust them in terms of over the last decade or so, how they have gone about their business - they sell well, they bring in good fees. There must be something up their sleeve."
So far this summer, Liverpool have only brought in Spanish winger Victor Munoz and French defender Jeremy Jacquet, while Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate have left on free transfers. Salah's replacement is a priority, though Yan Diomande has agreed a move to Real Madrid.
