Liverpool are set to complete the loan signing of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo while also chasing a move for PSG winger Bradley Barcola. The Reds are close to securing Araujo's signature, with the 27-year-old reportedly due to arrive in England for a medical and to finalise the switch.
Araujo loan deal close
According to Ben Jacobs, Araujo is on the verge of completing a loan move to Liverpool. The deal includes an option, rather than an obligation, for Liverpool to sign Araujo permanently at the end of the 2026/27 season. The purchase clause is worth around £47million, according to Sky Sports.
Injuries have ravaged Liverpool's defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign, and the signing of Araujo will provide much-needed cover at the back. He is also capable of playing at right-back, another area in need of reinforcement.
Barcola pursuit ongoing
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to be linked with a blockbuster move for Barcola, who is widely tipped to leave PSG before next month's transfer deadline. Initial discussions are thought to have taken place, but there is still plenty of work to do before the Frenchman can officially become a Liverpool player.
PSG are said to be eyeing a move for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres as a potential replacement for Barcola. In a boost for Liverpool, the former Manchester City striker appears keen on the switch. According to ESPN, he has informed Barcelona chiefs that he wants to leave the Nou Camp and complete a move to PSG this summer.
This could free up Barcola to join Liverpool, who are seeking a new winger to succeed Mohamed Salah. They are not the only club in the race, though, with Arsenal reportedly considering their own move for Barcola after missing out on Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior.
PSG are believed to have placed a £127m price tag on the 23-year-old, who remains under contract until the summer of 2028.
