Liverpool handed Barcola boost as PSG agree Torres terms

Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola, with the French champions having made a breakthrough in their efforts to sign his potential replacement. Barcola has been widely tipped to leave the French capital this summer, with the winger believed to be keen on a move to Merseyside, where he is earmarked as Mohamed Salah's long-term replacement.

PSG close in on Ferran Torres

Earlier this weekend, it emerged that PSG were looking into the possibility of signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who could succeed Barcola in Luis Enrique's squad and is thought to be valued at around £47million. According to the Liverpool Echo, personal terms have already been agreed with Torres. Other reports have claimed that he has informed Barcelona chiefs of his desire to move to the Parc des Princes.

PSG have also been linked with a move for Ajax winger Mika Godts, who was left out of their squad for Sunday's game against PEC Zwolle as talks progress.

PSG planning forward overhaul

The reigning European champions appear to be planning a significant overhaul of their forward line, with Goncalo Ramos having already left and Maghnes Akliouche arriving from Monaco. Such extensive attacking recruitment suggests PSG are bracing themselves for a possible Barcola departure, with Ibrahim Mbaye also attracting Liverpool's attention.

The latter featured for the full 90 minutes in PSG's friendly against Manchester United on Saturday. He scored the opener within just two minutes, with Bryan Mbeumo subsequently equalising for the Red Devils.

Liverpool consider Mbaye, Barcola deal faces hurdles

Liverpool are now thought to be considering a move for Mbaye alongside Barcola, though the latter transaction remains hindered by PSG's substantial triple-figure valuation. L'Equipe have reported that a £98.5million offer is set to be submitted but that PSG intend to swiftly reject that proposal. They have also suggested that there is optimism on both sides a deal will be reached.

That could pave the way for Cody Gakpo to join Tottenham, with Roberto De Zerbi a keen admirer of the Dutchman. Curtis Jones is another who could depart this summer with Inter Milan showing interest.

Araujo set to join Liverpool

New arrivals remain the immediate priority for Liverpool with Ronald Araujo poised to join on loan from Barcelona in a deal that also features a £47m buy option. The defender flew into Merseyside on Sunday to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his proposed switch.
