Liverpool's season continued to stutter as they were held to a fourth consecutive Premier League draw, with Dominik Szoboszlai's first-half penalty miss proving decisive in a 1-1 stalemate against Burnley at Anfield.
The Hungarian international struck the crossbar from the spot after a clumsy challenge on Cody Gakpo, and although Florian Wirtz later smashed home his fourth goal in seven games, the champions were unable to build on their dominance.
Burnley, who had goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to thank for several fine saves, equalised after slack Liverpool play allowed Edwards to stride through and fire into the bottom corner. Earlier, Ibrahima Konate had almost turned the ball into his own net, but Alisson Becker saved well.
Arne Slot's side pressed for a winner, with substitutes and Szoboszlai wasting chances, but Burnley held on for just their 14th point of the season, leaving the Reds to face familiar questions about their inability to break down stubborn defences.
