Leeds United defender Jayden Bogle has warned Manchester United that Wednesday's pre-season clash at Croke Park will not be a friendly, despite the pre-season billing.
The rivalry between the two clubs is one of the most heated in English football, and Bogle, who started in Leeds' 2-1 win at Old Trafford last season, is expecting a competitive encounter in Dublin.
Bogle's warning
Asked if anyone can truly call the fixture a friendly, Bogle told LUTV: 'No, you can't. Even though it is pre-season, it is not going to be a friendly. We will recover now and then prepare for that one next.'
Leeds secured a memorable victory over United in April, with Noah Okafor scoring twice in a 2-1 win, following a 1-1 draw at Elland Road in January.
Carrick's view
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick played down the needle, simply expressing his anticipation for the trip to Ireland.
'I'm looking forward to it,' Carrick said. 'It's been, a little bit, different chapters through pre-season and we'll get everybody together, when we get to Dublin over the next couple of days. It'll be great, two more games this week and, again, I'm looking forward to seeing the group develop.'
United have already played in Helsinki, Trondheim, Solna and Goteborg this summer, with further fixtures in Ireland and Wroclaw against AC Milan to come.
Rashford returns
Marcus Rashford has joined the squad in Ireland as his reintegration continues. The England winger has been handed a new squad number – 14 – and could feature against Leeds.
Carrick confirmed Rashford will be part of the squad for the final two pre-season friendlies, saying: 'We have a full squad next week in Dublin. We fly straight there and meet Leeds on Wednesday. We have a few days in Dublin where we have the whole squad, including Marcus, Kobbie [Mainoo] and Lisandro [Martinez]. I've played with him [Rashford]. I played in the game he made his debut, so we have a history.'
