Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has expressed regret after shoving a Buffalo Bills fan who slapped him on the helmet during Sunday night's game. The incident occurred as Jackson celebrated a touchdown in front of the home crowd at Highmark Stadium.
A fan wearing a Bills jersey slapped Jackson and teammate DeAndre Hopkins on their helmets, prompting Jackson to shove the supporter. The fan was ejected from the stadium and later banned from all NFL venues, according to ESPN.
“He slapped me, and he was talking – so, I just forgot where I was for a little bit,” Jackson said after the Ravens' 41-40 loss. “You have to think in those situations. You have security out there; let security handle it. But I just let my emotions get the best of me. Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. I learned from that.”
The two-time NFL MVP emphasised that he values fan interactions and intends to continue celebrating with supporters. “I’ve never seen our fans do that,” he said. “So, I’ll probably do it again when we score a touchdown. It’s not nothing against the fans. I’m just celebrating when my teammates get a touchdown.”
Jackson delivered a strong performance against the Ravens' AFC rivals, throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another. His touchdown pass to Hopkins gave Baltimore a 34-19 lead late in the third quarter, but the Bills rallied with 16 points in the final four minutes to secure a dramatic victory.
