Lewis Koumas believes his transfer plans may have changed in the wake of his Premier League debut for Liverpool at the weekend.
Koumas emerged from the bench in the 78th minute of the clash at Newcastle United and helped the Reds come from behind to earn a point in a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.
First Appearance Since FA Cup Debut
It was the 20-year-old's first appearance for Liverpool since scoring on his debut in the FA Cup against Southampton in February 2024, having been an unused substitute in the League Cup final win over Chelsea a few days earlier.
The Wales international subsequently had loan spells at Stoke City, Birmingham City and Hull City in the Championship, during which he made close to 100 appearances.
Iraola's Pre-Season Plans
Koumas impressed when used on the right wing by new head coach Andoni Iraola during pre-season, with Liverpool expected to make a decision nearer next Tuesday's transfer deadline over whether to sanction another loan or keep the youngster in the first-team squad.
Asked if making his Premier League debut has changed his own outlook on his immediate future, the forward said: "Definitely. I think I can help impact games as well in this league.
"It's nice to get my debut, but ultimately I want to go on and score goals and try to impact where we can finish in the league. We'll see what happens."
"I got the call to come on and it was just to add energy, add runs in behind and try to make something happen – and then happily we did that in the end."
Emotional Debut and Family Tribute
Of his top-flight debut, Koumas added: "This is the peak. It's quite emotional, to be honest. Now that it's finally happened, it just takes me back to the very first moments where it was my mum sacrificing absolutely everything to get me to any session I could be at.
"I remember being at Crewe, being at Tranmere, and my mum was just doing everything.
"So ultimately it's her to thank for being able to put myself out there and now we've reached this stage. It's just a happy family moment and I'm just really happy she could see it."
Another substitute, Victor Munoz, earned the dramatic penalty which was converted in the 99th minute by Dominik Szoboszlai to earn Liverpool a 2-2 draw.
"It's what the big players are there for: we couldn't win the game so we find a way to get a point out of it and the characters have stepped up," said Koumas to LFC TV.
"Dom's took the pen and there's absolutely no saving it, it's a clinical moment and it's a good point on the road and we'll move on to next week. A pressure moment under the lights, you wouldn't want anyone else on it."
