Klopp dismisses Salah exit fears after Champions League disappointment

Jürgen Klopp has moved to allay concerns over Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool, insisting the forward's social media outburst over missing Champions League football does not signal a desire to leave. Salah, who signed a new three-year contract last summer, expressed devastation after Manchester United's win over Chelsea confirmed Liverpool will not qualify for Europe's top competition for the first time in seven seasons.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's final Premier League game against Southampton, Klopp revealed Salah was in good spirits the morning after his tweet. 'No worries, no that Salah wants to go. I couldn't read anything that could lead in that direction,' Klopp said. 'If ever a player would come to me and say: "Oh we didn't qualify for the Champions League, I have to leave," I would drive him to the other club myself.'

The Liverpool manager dismissed suggestions the Europa League could be viewed as a 'booby prize' after three Champions League finals under his tenure. 'What is a booby? I needed to come fifth to learn that word! Not for me,' Klopp said. 'I am 100% sure that come the first whistle, Thursday night, whoever is the opponent, Anfield will be rocking.'

Klopp confirmed Fabio Carvalho may be sent out on loan next season after only eight starts in his debut campaign. The German also stressed that this season's disappointment would harden the resolve of everyone at the club to reclaim a place among the European elite.
