During a 2021 press conference ahead of a Champions League quarter-final, Klopp joked about the weather in Spain, saying: 'When we flew out I regret we don’t live here! The weather is so much better here. You are blessed!' He added that he would fit at 'three good clubs' in Spain, though noted his Spanish was 'really bad'.
Klopp has been working as head of global football for Red Bull since leaving Liverpool. The comments have resurfaced following Xabi Alonso's departure from Real Madrid after a Spanish Super Cup final loss to Barcelona, with Alvaro Arbeloa appointed as interim manager.
Speaking on Austrian TV, Klopp described Alonso's exit as 'another sign that something isn't quite right there at the moment', highlighting the immense pressure at Real Madrid. He noted that modern football leaves no time for managers, even those with Alonso's track record.
