Chloe Kelly scored the winner in extra time as England came from behind to beat Italy 2-1 and reach the Euro 2025 final. Kelly poked in the rebound from her saved penalty deep into extra time, but it was 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang who forced the extra period with a stoppage-time equaliser.
Italy had taken the lead in the first half through Barbara Bonansea, who smashed home from a tight angle after Sofia Cantore's cross deflected off Lucy Bronze. The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Italian bench, but England pushed for an equaliser throughout the second half.
With the clock ticking into added time, Agyemang scored her second crucial goal of the tournament to keep England's title defence alive. Kelly, who scored the winner in the 2022 final, then repeated the feat from the penalty spot in extra time.
England had a shaky start to the tournament, losing their opening game to France, and needed a comeback from two goals down against Sweden in the quarter-finals. Manager Sarina Wiegman made one change for the semi-final, dropping Jess Carter for Esme Morgan, and the team looked more settled.
The Lionesses will now face either Germany or Spain in the final as they bid for a third successive European title. 'The English are never done,' captain Leah Williamson said, echoing the spirit that has carried the team through the tournament.
