Harry Kane marks record-equalling night with two goals in England win
Kane scores twice on record-equalling night for England

Harry Kane scored twice as he equalled England's all-time caps record with his 125th appearance, marking the historic night with a 3-0 victory over Czechia at Wembley. The result also as good as clinched qualification for the Nations League knockout stages next March.

Kane's record-equalling night

Kane received an even louder reception than Jude Bellingham when the teams were read out before kick-off, with the crowd paying homage to an England great. It was 4,211 days since Kane made his debut against Lithuania on March 27, 2015, when he scored just 79 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Kane, 33, remains as hungry as ever and leads by example, providing a lift when the team needs it and goals when required. His two strikes took him to 91 goals for England, extending his record as the country's greatest-ever goalscorer.

England's disjointed start

There were four changes to the starting line-up - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze - and the early stages felt disjointed. Alexander-Arnold went close with a free kick, and Rogers tried to tee up Kane when he should have gone for goal himself.

The breakthrough came after 27 minutes when Kane put over a cross from the right and Czech captain Vladimir Coufal slid in and smashed the ball into his own net. Kane then added a second goal, steering home a low cross from Rogers, before heading in a deep corner from Lewis Hall at the back post.

Milestone performance

Kane's two goals, a part in the other, and an unforgettable performance earned him a standing ovation when he was substituted. The top two qualify for the Nations League knockout stages, with groups decided on points and head-to-head, and it would be hard to see Croatia bettering England's 7-0 scoreline in Rijeka last weekend.
