Kai Rooney's Season Ends Early Due to Injury

Kai Rooney, the 16-year-old son of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, has revealed that he will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury. The teenager made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday, stating: 'Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season.'

The nature of the injury has not been disclosed, but it is serious enough to keep him sidelined for an extended period. This comes just days after he helped Manchester United's Under-16s win the Premier League Shield, beating Burnley 2-0 on Tuesday.

Kai has been playing for multiple age-group teams this season, including the Under-18s, where he has been part of Darren Fletcher's side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals. His absence will be a blow to the team's hopes in the competition, as well as their Premier League Cup final and league title battle with Manchester City.

Despite the setback, Kai has had an encouraging season in the United academy and is expected to return next season to play a significant role in the Under-18s. His father, Wayne, has previously spoken about taking a 'stand off approach' to his son's development, emphasising the importance of letting him enjoy his football without added pressure.
