Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will finally meet in the ring after a decade of waiting, with their Battle of Britain confirmed for December 11 in Cardiff. The former world champions will collide at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital, with final details hammered out this week.
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, with the streaming giant revealing the fight poster for the first time on Wednesday.
Venue switch from New York to Cardiff
Only weeks ago, New York's famed Madison Square Garden was set to host arguably the biggest fight in British boxing history. Complications stemmed from Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn signing separate agreements with Saudi Arabian organisers Sela, with the former's deal stipulating the fight must take place in the UK. Fury's deal had no such restriction.
The stand-off once again threatened to derail proceedings, with Fury challenging Oleksandr Usyk to a trilogy fight while further discussions took place. Joshua and Hearn held firm in their bid to bring the fight to British soil, however.
Cardiff chosen over Wembley
Wembley Stadium was long considered the natural venue to stage this generation's biggest stars, but the challenge in satisfying US broadcasting demands meant Cardiff became the more realistic option, with its retractable roof ensuring fight fans won't be left out in the cold.
The venue, then the Millennium Stadium, hosted Joe Calzaghe for his world title clash with Mikkel Kessler in 2007 in a bout that started at 2am local time to accommodate American audiences. A similar start time is expected when Joshua and Fury finally make their ringwalks just weeks before Christmas.
