Grammy-nominated singer Jordin Sparks has been selected to perform the national anthem at the upcoming Indianapolis 500, race organizers announced on Thursday. This will be her third time singing the anthem at the iconic event, having previously performed in 2015 and 2024.
Race Details and Significance
The 2026 edition of the Indianapolis 500, known as the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing," is scheduled for May 24. This year's race holds special significance as it coincides with the 250th birthday of the United States. Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles expressed enthusiasm for Sparks' return, stating, "Jordin knows how important the national anthem performance is to the pre-race ceremonies of the Indianapolis 500, and we have been moved by her two previous renditions. This year's performance will be a special moment as we mark the 250th birthday of our nation."
Ticket Availability
Boles also announced that reserved seats for the race have sold out, though general admission tickets remain available. While race officials do not disclose attendance figures, the grandstand capacity is estimated at 275,000, and the event typically draws around 350,000 fans, making it the world's largest single-day spectator sporting event.
