Jimmy Thelin is among the leading candidates for the vacant Sheffield Wednesday manager position, with the League One club keen to hold talks with the former Aberdeen boss.
Record Sport understands the Swede, who led Aberdeen to Scottish Cup glory last year, is on the radar of the Owls. Yorkshire sources have confirmed Thelin is being considered as Wednesday work through their interview process.
Thelin's Career Path
The 48-year-old has been out of work since leaving Aberdeen in January to spend time with his family. He has had options to return in Scandinavia and Europe, but decided to recharge and wait for the right opportunity.
Thelin made his name with Elfsborg before moving to Aberdeen, where he had the Dons challenging Celtic in his early months at Pittodrie. Although they tailed off in the league, they lifted the Scottish Cup for the first time in 35 years.
Wednesday's Search
Thelin then led Aberdeen into the group stages of the Conference League, but the club struggled to cope on both fronts and he stepped down last season. The Swedish boss has always been keen on trying his luck in England.
Wednesday sacked Danish boss Henrik Peterson earlier this month and are under new ownership, with ambitions to get back into the Championship quickly. Matt Hamshaw has been placed in interim charge for Sunday's clash with Blackpool.
Former Stockport County boss Dave Challinor and ex-Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom are among the early bookmakers' favourites for the Hillsborough job.
