Jamie Murray: Feud, Divorce, and Dating App Quest

Jamie Murray, the elder brother of tennis icon Andy Murray, will return to Wimbledon in 2026 as a dedicated analysis expert for the BBC. This marks a new chapter after his retirement in April 2026, following a career that included 39 titles and a historic 2007 Wimbledon mixed doubles victory with Jelena Jankovic.

Brotherly Feud in 2008

In 2008, tensions flared between the Murray brothers when Andy withdrew from a Davis Cup clash against Argentina at the last minute. Jamie was forced to pair with replacement Ross Hutchins, and Team GB lost to the eventual runners-up. The incident led to a feud that left the brothers not speaking for weeks.

Jamie publicly criticized Andy's decision, saying, "I think it's disappointing he chose not to come. If he had really wanted to push himself he could have come here for the match." Andy responded, "If he knew what it was like playing three five-set matches in a row on clay then maybe he'd understand my position a little bit better." Their mother, Judy, was caught in the middle but the brothers eventually reconciled.

Childhood Rivalry

Judy Murray has often described the brothers' competitive childhood, noting they bickered constantly and frequently fought physically. She recalled an incident when Andy beat Jamie in an under-12 singles final: "They start having a fight in the back of the minibus. Andy's hand is over the back seat and eventually Jamie has taken enough and nails his fist into Andy's hand. There was blood and I had to stop the bus."

ATP Player Council Resignation

In 2019, Jamie resigned from the ATP Player Council after three years, citing "vendettas" and "people out for their own gains." He was one of four to resign alongside players Robin Haase and Sergiy Stakhovsky and coach Dani Vallverdu. Jamie said, "The first two years I really enjoyed, but the last year it's kind of got political... I was fed up of sitting in these seven-hour meetings and coming out of it and not talking about the tennis."

New Role at Wimbledon

This year's Wimbledon will be Jamie's first as a non-player since 2006 (excluding the cancelled 2020 event). He will provide expert analysis for the BBC, using advanced match data and technology to offer tactical breakdowns of singles and doubles play.

Painful Divorce

In 2025, The Sun reported that Jamie and his wife Alejandra Gutierrez had divorced after 15 years of marriage. The couple met in 2008, married in 2010, and have a daughter. They separated in 2024, and the divorce was finalized on August 22, 2025. A spokesperson said, "This is an extremely difficult time for Jamie and Alejandra and they would appreciate that their privacy is respected."

Dating App Search

Following the divorce, Jamie reportedly signed up for the celebrity-exclusive dating app Raya. A family friend told The Sun, "It's a really sad situation. They're working hard to make it as amicable as possible... Jamie's started to make moves toward meeting someone new by signing up to dating sites." As of now, no new relationship has been reported.
