A New Approach to Full-Back
Unlike Eddie Howe, who had previously deployed Jacob Murphy out of position at right-back, Jaissle showed faith in the academy pair. Shahar, 19, made his third start in four pre-season games, but this was his first in front of a crowd of nearly 50,000 at the Mestalla. Pivas, a right-footed centre-half, was handed the left-back role after impressing in training at La Manga.

Youngsters Impress on the Big Stage
Shahar delivered a solid 45-minute display, winning key tackles and looking composed in possession. His early substitution at half-time suggests he is being managed carefully ahead of Wednesday's clash with Everton, with Livramento still expected to be unavailable.
Pivas, who had only played 30 minutes at Gateshead previously, held his own at left-back before being replaced by Dylan Charlton for the final 23 minutes. Mason Miley, another academy product, replaced Shahar at the break and looked comfortable at right-back despite being a midfielder by trade.
More Youth Opportunities Ahead
Henry Johnson, who recently signed his first professional contract, was given 20 minutes at centre-half in the second half. Jaissle's willingness to trust the club's youngsters was evident, and with upcoming fixtures against Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, and Strasbourg, more game time could be on the horizon.
