Alexander Isak's agent has addressed the ongoing transfer rumours linking the Newcastle United striker with a move to Liverpool. The Reds have reportedly made an enquiry about a potential £120 million deal for the Swedish international, but Newcastle insist he is not for sale.
Speaking to Saudi Arabian outlet Arriyadiyah, agent Gonzalo Gaitan said: 'We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player.' He declined to provide specific details about Isak's future.
Liverpool's interest has cooled after Newcastle's firm stance, with the club now pursuing Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike. The Merseyside club have submitted an £82 million offer for the French striker, following Newcastle's failed £69 million bid.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed he sent Isak home from their pre-season defeat to Celtic due to the transfer speculation. Howe stated: 'It was my decision. I decided to send him home due to all the speculation around him. The last thing he wanted was to be sat in the stands watching.'
Despite the uncertainty, Howe expressed confidence that Isak will remain at St James' Park. 'Alex is happy at Newcastle, he loves the players, the staff, the team. I'm confident he'll be here at the start of the season,' he added.
